Being Salt & Light

Jesus uses the concepts of salt and light to refer to the role of His followers in the world. Clearly, Jesus saw us as the preservatives to this lost and needy world, to preserve it from the evil intent of ungodly men with unredeemed, corrupt desires.

Our presence in the world must also be light in the darkness, not only to bring the truth of God’s Word but through good deeds which must be evidenced for all to see.

What does it mean for us and how do we respond to be salt and light? What sorts of things can hinder or prevent us from fulfilling our role as salt and light? How do we rise up to this onerous challenge and responsibility in an immoral, materialistic and pluralistic world that we live in today?
