At last Friday's meeting, we heard from Rev Sylvester Onyemalechi. This dynamic teacher and pastor from Nigeria spoke very strongly on building an atmosphere for answered prayers based on certain principles that God requires us to have. While listening, it brought to my mind a recent experience my husband and I had on believing God for the en-bloc sale of our apartment block in 2006 and the subsequent purchase of a new apartment to which we had just got the keys! Amen! God is good!
The whole episode was a test of faith. It required us to believe that God is able and willing to see us through the success of the sale and the purchase of a new apartment but it also requires us to respond to God in faith and staying on His Word. It was not easy to walk by faith and not by sight, but we made a decision to put out trust completely in Him. Amen! We learned to be still and to wait on Him. There were times when we felt discouraged because a few developers turned us down – and that's when we needed to endure and overcome worry and fear. All the more we had to stand in faith to believe what we had asked God for. We learnt that God responds to faith and “ without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Heb 11.6)
So with that, we prayed, stayed calm, and waited on God for the expected results.
It was only towards the end of the six month period that the en-bloc sale finally came through. Praise God! And during this time God led us to commit to the purchase of a new apartment at a very good price, before the prices of property increased by leaps and bounds in early 2007. Praise God! God's timing was just perfect! All glory to God!
Through this experience, God taught us how to build an atmosphere for answered prayers! Amen! All Praise and Glory to God!
