God gave me my job

PDFPrintEmail

I was without a job since August 2004 and the 2 months following were trying times as I am the sole bread winner. The Lord prepared me since February 2004 to leave my job. Of course I tried to extend the deadline as long as I could and concurrently applied for other jobs. My security was in my job and not in God. I was apprehensive as to whether God really could provide. Not wanting to let go, I hesitated until mid July 2004.

I finally surrendered and said to the Lord, “I will trust that You will provide”. As I tendered my resignation, I had the peace of God and was released from a burden which I had been shouldering since February 2004. For the months of August and September, I listened to Bro Francis' cds about “Hearing God's Voice”. I spent time alone with God at East Coast Park and these times refreshed my soul. The meaning of hearing from God took on a new perspective for me. I was blessed by Bro Francis' cd ministry.

On 20 August, 2004, I received a call from a potential employer requesting to see me for an interview. The first interview was scheduled on 23 August. I was so excited and did my homework on the company. To my amazement, the interviewer was my ex-colleague and I knew that God was paving a way for me. There were 3 tests that I had to go through but I did not complete any of them. I feared the worst. At the end of the first interview I felt that all was lost and I needed to start writing again. God proved faithful! I was scheduled for a 2nd interview on 8 September. My spirits were lifted up and I began to seek the Lord for His provisions seriously. The 3rd interview came and was scheduled on 16 September. This time it was with my ex-colleague's boss and by God's grace, I knew him too. God had placed people along the way and had showered favour upon me. I was told that the response from the newspapers brought a total of 200 over applications. This did not include the internal staff who were also invited to fill this vacancy. My chances were less than 0.5%. Secondly, I was already 42 and by worldly standards, it is difficult getting reemployed when you are over 40. I needed to be retrained and was to expect a pay cut. I cried out to the Lord, requested prayer from my small group and also attended the Touch Jesus, He Heals! meeting on 18 September, 2004. Bro Francis laid hands on me and I also filled up a prayer request for a job and a financial breakthrough. I was reminded to testify when God answered my prayer.

My wife, daughter and I waited upon the Lord and prayed daily, the call finally came and I was told to start work on 1 October, 2004. We all burst out with joy and were totally indebted to Jesus for hearing and answering our prayers. God is indeed a prayer answering God and He knows our needs. To top it all up, I was offered a better pay packet than previously. The terms and perks were definitely better than before. My family was so relief and totally overjoyed that indeed God will never forsake and He will provide - Hallelujah, glory to Jesus!

I hope to encourage those who are going through a similar situation. Do not lose heart or believe what the world tells us. Bind all the negatives in Jesus name. Tune your ears to the Almighty God and He will provide all our needs, because He first loved us.
