Releasing a Debt, Liberty Received!
Written by Ms. Sim (name changed to protect the identity of the lender)
I was ok with lending money to a friend – more than once. Then I found out the money was not used to meet basic needs, but was being spent on clothes and going out with friends.
I was upset and felt unfair about the whole thing. At that point, I didn't have much savings left and had stopped myself from going on trips just because I was afraid that I would not have enough for daily use. I even stopped shopping.
Voices came into my head, "Why do I have to suffer while this person is buying things and enjoying life?"; "If the money was returned, you wouldn't be suffering like this." These voices robbed my very joy of being a friend and also being a Christian.
