Ministry Trip to South India - 23 to 29 March 2006

PDFPrintEmail

It was such a blessing that my husband, Simon and myself had a chance go for a ministry trip with Covenant Vision Centre. It was the first ministry trip in our life and was also my first time going to India. The seven of us, Brother Francis, Sister Shirley, Sister Trisha, Brother Samuel, Sister Jill, Brother Simon and I left Singapore on 23rd March 2006. Throughout the seven days, we experienced numerous blessings and favors from God.

We visited three places in the South India. Before we left, plans had already been made for a 2-night rally in Tirunelvelli, 1 prayer meeting in Nallumavadi and 2 nights of rallies in Nagercoil.

God's Favor

It was evident that God took care of all of us throughout the journey. Even small things such as clearing our overweighed hand-luggage at Changi Airport, how He helped Sister Trisha to cut the long queue for luggage scanning in order to catch the flight from London, how He gave us a free lunch at the Chennai airport, and many more. Even before the actual minstry started, we already felt God's presence with us.

Also, He showed His favor and mercy especially on our return trip from Nagercoil to Chennai. We supposedly had ample time to reach the domestic airport at Madurai, as our flight was scheduled at 3:15pm. While we were joyfully sharing and fellowshipping in the coach on our 5-hour journey, Sister Shirley suddenly received an sms from Sister Carol (who takes care of our iternary in Singapore) that our flight was cancelled, and we needed to rush for the flight at 1:40pm. It was 12:10pm , and there was still quite a distance to reach the domestic airport, we prayed hard for God's mercy. In the end, not only we were able to catch the flight but we also realized that God had delayed this flight for us since 10:00am . How great is our God! Praise the Lord!!

God's Protection

It was amazing to experience how people drive in India. (You know what I mean!) It requires lots of faith and courage!! We prayed hard throughout the journey on the road, of course, not to mention we felt like we were riding on an Osim iGallop!! But as the decal on the car we were riding in rightly put it: Why Worry? God's in Control. Hallejulah!

God's Feast

Initially, I thought it was a good chance for me to lose a few kilograms in weight, assuming not much good food would be found in this trip. Conversely, I gained a few more kilograms when I was back. 8-) God fed us every meal beyond our expectation. Most of us kept saying: “we would eat lesser next meal…” of course, you know what happened!! 8-)

God's Kingdom

During the trip, God showed me and I witnessed a few English words:

NewIndia10.jpgSmall

On 26 March 2006 , it was a Sunday, we divided into two groups to preach in different churches. Brother Samuel, Brother Simon and I went to Belfield Church while the rest of the team went to Pastor Ruben's church.

When we stepped into Belfield Church , I felt the warmth and their devoted hearts in worshipping God. They sat on the floor and enjoyed the service with limited musical instrument: an electric keyboard and a set of old drums; yet they enjoyed the service so much. Praise the Lord!!

NewIndia03.jpgMass

On Day Two and Three, during the two nights of healing rallies in Tirunelvell,. I saw the word “mass”!

2,500 people cramped together in an old hall, sitting side by side on the floor, with a few fans for ventilation; yet, you could see their hearts for God. Despite their living standard, they still dressed up for the best to come for God. The children were so pure hearted, and you could see their child-like faith when they came forward for anointing. I thank God for His creation; He loves us without any boundary, nor any nationality.

NewIndia09.jpgMassive

On the afternoon of Day Three, we went to Nallumavadi to join Bro Mohan C. Lazarus for his monthly Thirappin Vasal Jeban prayer meeting. This town has a population of around 3,000 people, but as you can see from the photograph, what we saw was really “massive”. Every month, they have at least 25,000 people attending, many of whom travelled overnight from other towns to come for this prayer meeting. Such dedication!

Sister Jill and I were in tears when we sat on the stage, witnessing the numerous people like what God promised Abraham that he would have his children like the unlimited stars. Our God is indeed a great God!! Immediately, I told myself that I had to go to my church's weekly prayer meeting when I went back to Singapore.

Our Prayer

In my mind, I always think that I offer my best prayer to God. When I witness how these people pray with their faith, I need to confess that I do not love Him enough.

NewIndia02.jpgTheir Prayer – Yearning

Indeed, you can see from their facial expression, they do not only pray with their hearts, they actually yearn to God. Are you touched and moved by them?

God's Healing

Our God is a Healing God!! His hand is never too short for anything. God anointing was clearly seen as many were healed during the rallies.

A man had pain on his right leg because of a stroke and he came for the meeting walking with difficulty. After prayer, he was set free on that night itself! God healed him and he walk immediately. (Sorry! It should be: he could RUN immediately!!) Hallelujah!!

A young chap came up for prayer. His hands trembled since birth and he could not even hold a pen. He had not worked or held a job in his life, but God healed him miraculously and his hands stopped trembling instantly!! He was amazed and kept asking himself what had happened. God is so wonderful!!

It is not possible to record all the miracles in this report; as long as we have faith in God, we do not need to seek Him by sight.

Summary

These four verses from Matthew 9:35–38 best describe what we have done in this seven days' journey. I pray that there will be more laborers to serve the Kingdom of God!! May God bless and touch everyone who reads this report!! Amen!!

(35) “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.”

(36) “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”

(37) “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few”

(38) “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
