CVCC TransforMEtion Weekend - 8 to 10 August 2009

Transformetion_4.jpg8th, 9th and 10th August 2009 - history in the making.  This marked the first Encounter Weekend for Covenant Vision Christian Church.  It was held at Parkroyal on Beach Road.  For a less than 1 year old church, the turn-up was very good, a total of 96 adults and 19 children attended!

We were organised into 9 groups of 10 or 11 persons each.  Every group was given a unique name, meaningful Greek words, aptly selected for the subject of this transformation weekend.  We realised only on the final day of the camp during a short game session that the first letter of each group name, when placed together in the right order, spells “t-r-a-n-s-f-o-r-m”.

It was amazing to see the power of the Holy Spirit leading Ps. Henson Lim in his teaching sessions.  All sessions were properly structured and well progressed, in line with the subject on transformation.  The topics in sequence were:

  • Transformation : GAP - The more we are transform, the more we will experience God’s will that is good, acceptable and perfect.
  • Conformation : LOGOS - As we transform, we are to conform to the Word of God (logos – Godly logic).
  • Liberation : MIND - We are to liberate our minds into captivity for Christ then align our heart and mind to bring action through our desires on things of the Spirit that brings life.
  • Destination : GLORY - Our destination for transformation is the revelation of God’s glory.

Transformetion_6.jpgOf course, throughout the camp, it was not merely teaching and more teaching.  We had a fun-filled 2-hour session of community games.  This time, there was no teaching and no answers provided by Ps. Henson Lim, though his son, David Lim topped the game in providing practically all the answers in the ‘re-arranging jumbled-up words game’.  Also, we were all tested on our biblical knowledge, and how fast we could flip the Bible in search for answers.  In addition, as usual, we were all very well fed not just spiritually, but gastronomically.  Food provided was indeed, exceedingly abundantly sumptuous – so much so that some commented that this transformation weekend was transformation of the stomach, particularly just after the 40-day fast and pray prior to the camp.

Transformetion_5.jpg9th August 2009, National Day - We had our Sunday service at the hotel in the morning, followed by Prayer, Praise and Worship in the evening.  During the morning Service, Rev. Francis Khoo preached on ‘The Product of the Holy Spirit’ - fruit of the spirit, which was in line with the subject on transformation.  In the evening, as the nation celebrated National Day, we celebrated God’s intervention through our prayer and declaration by faith, for the nation of Singapore.  7 persons were appointed to lead in prayer to reclaim the 7 mountains – government, family, church, arts and entertainment, education, media and business.

After the last teaching session and worshipping in the presence of God, we were all deeply convicted by the Holy Spirit.  We were left with a challenge in our hearts on how we are to position ourselves after we depart from this camp – will we allow the work of the Holy Spirit to continuously transform us inwardly to manifest His glory?  Many went forward in tears and on bended knees, desiring to draw close to our Lord, seeking His will for each one of us.  As the pastors prayed for each one, prophecies were released and many got delivered from their problems.

Finally, the camp came to a close with sharing of testimonies.  For some who came up to testify, God’s miracles were apparently evident in their lives now.  As for those who did not come up to testify, I strongly believe, all of us have our testimonies for we have all experienced the power of the Holy Spirit stirring to change if not already transforming!
