The Engine That Is Prayer

PDFPrintEmail

Prayer PowerhouseAnyone who drives a car will tell you that the heart of a car is really its engine. Without it, a car is really just a block of metal. Likewise, prayer is the heart of the church. Without prayer, church is just a group of people operating a religious treadmill.

Even as Covenant Vision grows and the programmes increase, we cannot ignore the fact that we cannot run without prayer. The prayer ministry that is today the Covenant Vision Prayer Powerhouse operated in Rev Francis Khoo's (then Bro Francis Khoo) home even before the Ministry was birthed. A group of people faithfully came together every Monday evening to pray. Through the years, we have seen many initiatives come forth through prayer. The church was formed after years of seeking God and travailing. We have also seen many breakthroughs and lives transformed through prayer.

But let's not forget the fuel that combusts to produce the force that drives the engine. Without the Holy Spirit, our prayers can be self-serving and ineffective. EM Bounds, in his book A Treasury of Prayer, rightly points out that God is looking for "men whom the Holy Ghost can use – men of prayer, mighty men prayer. " As we pray, the Holy Spirit empowers and the power or force that is produced avails much.

Come join us to pray every Monday, 7.30pm at Covenant Vision Centre. The first Monday of the month is the Covenant Vision Christian Church Corporate prayer meeting, and every other Monday we hold our Covenant Vision Prayer Powerhouse meetings. Together as the body of Christ, we come together to enforce Christ's victory in our Country, our families, and communities.
